Middle East in Prophecy - Saudi Arabia

Mesopotamia in Prophecy

According to Google, Mesopotamia means "(from the Greek, meaning 'between two rivers') was an ancient region in the eastern Mediterranean bounded in the northeast by the Zagros Mountains and in the southeast by the Arabian Plateau, corresponding to today's Iraq, mostly, but also parts of modern-day Iran, Syria and Turkey."

This region, interesting is so significant that we cannot afford to ignore it in the affairs of this present world. In modern language, Mesopotamia is known as the Middle East. It is a very strategic area in the world which has birthed all the civilizations of the modern world as we have it today.
For me, history by the Bible, is the most authentic and authoritative source of all knowledge, so let us get to the Beginning of Beginnings.

According to the Book of Genesis of the Bible, in the beginning G-d created the heavens and the earth and put man in the Garden of Eden, which was situated somewhere in Mesopotamia(pre-Deluge).

Genesis 2: 10 "And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11  The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; 12  And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13  And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.14  And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

So, let us find out if these are true.

Let's begin by looking at names that we can relate to in our modern world. First, let's look for Ethiopia

The land of Ethiopia is separated from Saudi Arabia by the Red Sea.

See Havilah below, using the map in Noah's day, thanks to Wikipedia

Looking at this map, we can see Havilah is situated north of Ethiopia almost border of today's Eritrea. Very interesting.

According to Bible, there is Gold in Havilah, also bdellium and onyx stone.

Assyria is a name which we can find in the Bible. For instance, according to 2 Kings 18:9  "And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it."

Now, we begin to see River Euphrates and River Tigris, and by layer principle, comparing it to today's map of the Middle East,

So, during the time of the Assyrian kingdom, it occupied that territory called today's Iraq

I view the Middle East as a confluence and an epi-centre of World civilizations and melting point. This very strategic location or world geography binds all the races and civilizations of Man. To its south, is Africa, to its East, is China, Russia, etc and onto its North is Turkey and the like pointing towards Europe. Very interesting part of the world and little wonder this zone is the most contested in the world, partly due to its endowment in precious minerals, metals and enormous wealth.

Brief History of Saudi Arabia

Rise of Wahhabism and the first Saudi state

According to Wikipedia,

"The emergence of the Saudi dynasty began in central Arabia in 1744. In that year, Muhammad ibn Saud, the tribal ruler of the town of Ad-Dir'iyyah near Riyadh, joined forces with the religious leader Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab,[13] the founder of the Wahhabi movement – a radical form of Islam.[14] This alliance formed in the 18th century provided the ideological impetus to Saudi expansion and remains the basis of Saudi Arabian dynastic rule today. Over the next 150 years, the fortunes of the Saud family rose and fell several times as Saudi rulers contended with Egypt, the Ottoman Empire, and other Arabian families for control of the peninsula.[1][9]
The first Saudi State was established in 1744 in the area around Riyadh and briefly controlled most of the present-day territory of Saudi Arabia through conquests made between 1786 and 1816; these included Mecca and Medina.[15] Concerned at the growing power of the Saudis, the Ottoman Sultan, Mustafa IV, instructed his viceroy in Egypt, Mohammed Ali Pasha, to reconquer the area. Ali sent his sons Tusun Pasha and Ibrahim Pasha who were eventually successful in routing the Saudi forces in 1818 and destroyed the power of the Al Saud.[1][9]"

Ottoman Era

"Beginning with Selim I's acquisition of Medina and Mecca in 1517, the Ottomans, in the 16th century, added to their Empire the Hejaz and Asir regions along the Red Sea and the Al Hasa region on the Persian Gulf coast, these being the most populous parts of what was to become Saudi Arabia. They also laid claim to the interior, although this remained a rather nominal suzerainty. The degree of control over these lands varied over the next four centuries with the fluctuating strength or weakness of the Empire's central authority. In the Hejaz, the Sharifs of Mecca were largely left in control of their territory (although there would often be an Ottoman governor and garrison in Mecca). On the eastern side of the country, the Ottomans lost control of the Al Hasa region to Arab tribes in the 17th century but regained it again in the 19th century. Throughout the period, the interior remained under the rule of a large number of petty tribal rulers in much the same way as it had in previous centuries.[12]" Source: Wikipedia

This video from Youtube caught me thinking and so I search an online Bible and behold what I saw

Isa 14:4  That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!

Some Strong Reasons to make me believe the Babylon in John's Revelations points to Saudi Arabia are as follows:

1. Saudi Arabia is built on practically desert - Wilderness

"So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. Revelations 17: 3

2. It is a golden city.

As shown earlier in this blog

Revelations 17: 4  "And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication..."

That nation radiates gold and is indeed a glamorous lady.

3. The Geography of the location of Saudi Arabia

Isa 13: 12  I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

Now, where is Ophir?

Ophir is located southwards of Arabia according to Noah's day. See blue circle

Ophir corresponds directly to a location within today's Yemen

Still on Isaiah's prophecy in Isaiah 13

Isa 13: 17 "Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it."

Now, who are and where are the Medes situated?

By correlation to modern day Middle East, we find the Medes as shown below

Now, are you seeing what I am also seeing? Medes falls in today's Iran. So we now understand why Medes and Persia ruled together in time of Daniel. Both occupied adjacent territorial space.

Another Word of Prophecy

Isa 21: 1- 2 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.
2  A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

Methinks Saudi Arabia should be careful of Iran!

Yet Another Word of Prophecy!

Isa 21: 13 "The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim."

Now, where is Dedanim?

Now, by same juxtaposition, we see clearly that DEDAN points to the United Arab Emirates

Yet, another Prophecy that pinpoints Babylon as Saudi Arabia

Isa 21:16 -17 " For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it."

Now, where is Kedar?

Kedar is even situated within Saudi Arabia territory? See blue circle

4. Prophet Isaiah agrees with Apostle John on Babylon's Fall

Re 14:8  And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Isa 21:9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

Re 18:21  And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

This indeed is very sobering in the face of the current world international and Middle East political power play happening before our very eyes!

Yet, Prophet Isaiah agrees again with Apostle John's Revelations on the Burning

Rev 18: 8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Isa 13:19  And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

Rev 17: 16  And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
