The Ark of the Covenant

The Ark of the Covenant

Prayer

"I will lift of my eyes to the Lord, the G-d of Israel, whose throne is founded upon Mercy and Loving kindness. To the Lord G-d belongs Mercy and He will look upon me with mercy. Let the Lord be merciful and gracious towards me because of His everlasting covenant, in Jesus name. Amen."

What is the Ark of His Covenant?

By the very structure of the Ark, it represents G-d's Mercy to the house of Jacob.

Read Hebrews 9: 1 - 5

Hebrews 9: 1.

"Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
2  For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
3  And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
4  Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5  And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

G-d's Command to Moses concerning the Ark of the Covenant

Ex 31:7  The tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the tabernacle,
Ex 35:12  The ark, and the staves thereof, with the mercy seat, and the vail of the covering,
Ex 37:1  And Bezaleel made the ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half was the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it:
Ex 37:5  And he put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, to bear the ark.
Ex 39:35  The ark of the testimony, and the staves thereof, and the mercy seat,
Ex 40:3  And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.
Ex 40:5  And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.
Ex 40:20  And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark:
Ex 40:21  And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses.

What is the Significance of the Ark of the Testimony?

There is a common praise that is prayed when the priests bore the ark. King Solomon understood this.

2Ch 5:13  It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;
2Ch 6:14  And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:
2Ch 7:3  And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

King Hezekiah understood this.

2Ch 20: 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.

The Ark of the Testament in our Day and Time

The scriptures shows us that the Ark of Testimony is still relevant in our Day and Time, since Jesus, the Messiah, has overcome, loosing the seven seals and opening the book of prophecy.

Re 11:19  And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

What did Jesus say concerning the Ark of the Testament?

John 4: 21  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Why did Jesus say this? Because He is the administrator (Priest) of the New Covenant which is no longer based on shadow but the real heavenly tabernacle.

Hebrews 9: 1. Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
Jesus likes us to look upwards towards the Heavenly sanctuary.

Re 11:19  And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament...

Shalom!
