The Rivers and Nations

The Rivers

Genesis 2: 10  "And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads."

These Rivers are divided from one main river. This is symbolic to mean that all races were "divided" from one man, namely ADAM.
Nations were meant to split along the Rivers(Gen. 2: 10-14  Rivers: 1st -  Pishon,  2nd - Gihon, 3rd - Hiddekel aka Tigris & 4th - Euphrates).

Peleg - The "Division of Nations"

Genesis 11: 1 ¶  And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.2  And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

Now, where is this land of Shinar?

Genesis 10: 8  And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9  He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. 10  And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11  Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah...

The land of Shinar, Babel and Accad are all bound by the Rivers Euphrates and River Tigris(or Hiddekel). Both Rivers sink into the Persian Gulf towards the South.

According to 1 Chronicles 1: 19,

Timing of the "Division"

"And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother’s name was Joktan."

See also,

Genesis 11: 17  And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.18  And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu...

Genesis 11: 8  So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9  Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Branching of the Rivers

The Spirit of G-d established the Rivers to direct human trafficking(trade) & settlement(habitations). The same principle goes today for international trade and alliances. The same principles goes for strategic warfare and security.

According to Google, "a large natural stream of water flowing in a channel to the sea, a lake, or another river."

The significance of rivers has a lot to do with "flowing". A river is not a water body, in the sense that a river must be flowing from a source to a sink. Any stagnant water body is known as a Lake, but not "River". The River signifies the flow of Life from the source or heart of the human body to the sink(vital organs) that requires oxygen and nutrients for proper functioning.

"Confluence" Points

According to Google, a confluence is  "the junction of two rivers, especially rivers of approximately equal width."

An example of a confluence is the junction of the Rivers Tigris(Hiddekel) and the Euphrates at Kuwait and both sink into the Persian Gulf.

Same goes for Rivers Niger and Rivers Benue of Nigeria in West Africa.

What is the Significance of "Confluence" lands?

Confluence lands are usually the points or geographies of highest "mixture" of settlements and economic activities. For instance, in the Middle East also known as Mesopotamia, that area known as Iraq,Nimrud(or Nimrod), Assyria, Babylon and Accad represents the regions of Unity in the World and points of highest Unification as well as points of "Division".

For Nigeria, we have this point situated in Lokoja which is in Kogi state. Can you close your eyes for a minute and imagine the points of INTERSECTIONS in your human body - where the veins, arteries meet? These points are very sensitive and critical points in your body and so the earth.

Pentecost "The Unification"

Now, Jerusalem, like Babylon, Nimrod, Lokoja, represents a point of Unification for the whole world.

Acts 2: 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 ¶  And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6  Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7  And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8  And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9  Parthians(Persia), and Medes(Media), and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia(Middle East), and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10  Phrygia(Europe), and Pamphylia, in Egypt(North Africa), and in the parts of Libya(North Africa) about Cyrene(Europe), and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11  Cretes and Arabians(Arabia), we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12  And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

The meaning of the descent of the Spirit on Pentecost Day signifies that G-d will unite all tribes, kindred and Nations at a location called Jeru' Salem( City of Peace).
Interestingly, Jeru' Salem occupies a strategic situation relative to those "four heads" of Rivers we see in Genesis, signifying what it relates to in respect of the Garden of G-d

Endowments

"Confluence" or "Tributary(Dispersion)" points are strategic for Unity or Division. In Nigeria for instance, we have the "confluence" in Lokoja. We will observe that this geography contains  all the tribes in Nigeria.
The Seas(and Rivers) are the "blood" of the Earth, as well as sustenance of the Trees(Vegetation) of which the Lord says that the "Tree is the Life of man"(Deuteronomy 20:19 ).
Nigeria, spiritually, is a Tree. It has two branches(Rivers Niger & Benue). Both confluence in Lokoja , flowing Southwards to its "roots", namely, the Niger-Delta. Now, as the life of a tree is in its roots, so is the "life" of Nigeria based in the Niger-Delta. This principle must hence follow for Nigeria political, economic, social and other aspects of Nigeria.
In the same vein, a tree's blossoming and fruitfulness cannot be found in the roots. A tree's fruitfulness is found on the branches. Hence, Nigeria's blossoming follows those two "branches" - Rivers Niger & Benue. Such principles must follow for "life" of economic, social, political interactions along those branches.
The River Pison bounded a certain area known as Havilah. And G-d expressly revealed what mineral resources can be seen in that geographic structure.

Confluence or Tributary locations also give insight into the abundance of "strategic" resources for manufacturing and economy.

Genesis 2: 11  " The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold..."

Putting this in the Nigeria context could be like this:

The name of the first is Nigeri: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Nigeria, where there is ..."
